Windows 8 hibernate black screen




















Maybe you've created some corruption in the registry with the manual change. I'm running Windows 8 Pro 64 on a Samsung laptop and had initially disabled hibernation and the fast startup. In other words, as long as I logged in fast enough, Windows would load up properly, but if I didn't, the screen would go dark and the computer became unresponsive until a reboot.

The Welcome screen doesn't black out after 5 sec. Any insights? Is it a Windows bug or is it how I configured the fast startup? This thread is locked. Under Shutdown settings , select the Hibernate checkbox if it's available , and then select Save changes.

I have updated the BIOS but the problem still remains. Everything is OK when you "cold boot" but the problem is that the display stays black when returning from "sleep mode".
