Need more help? Expand your skills. Get new features first. Tuesday, April 4, AM. I get an this error: "Cannot delete rapi: Data error cyclic redundancy check Martie. Tuesday, April 4, PM. This helped me get AS 3. After 3. I had numerous problems installing because the newer version had left remants of itself even after uninstalling it. The 3. At this point when I tried to sync, AS 3.
It would start to sync and display "looking for changes", then the dropped connection sound would go off but AS was continuing to try and sync. The icon would spin but it made no progress with syncing.
I reinstalled AS 3. When I changed the name in AS, it did the same thing again. It started to sync then dropped the connection. What do I do now? I can't sync no matter what I try. After many failed attempts I have solved this problem. Go to Run 2. Look for the note pad file called: wcesetup 4. Search for and destroy every file you find put old in front of the file if you can't delete it, e.
Shut Down Windows and re-install Active Sync. Thursday, April 6, AM. I've been reading all I can about active sync problems. Started getting supposed timeouts with message about trying to synch out of date appointments. This is only a potted history and shows the essence of the witchcraft attempts at solving this.
I'm getting very frustrated by the continuing time I'm wasting trying to sort this. Tried hard reset of pda, reloading all the software, no difference. Upgraded from 3. Worked fine for a week. Found this thread. Instal log showed two warnings about dlls being older than the existing ones in the active sync directory msconv97 and richink.
Renaming both these to.. In fact renaming msconv97 and rebooting gave me a serious windows problem of some description, which seems to have gone away after the 3. Active sync program directory now has the older versions of both the above dlls, a setup log wcesetup with no warnings at all, although several dlls do show as refreshed. Having set up the partnership with my pda imate PDA2k and copied all items I wanted sync'd from my desktop, I then changed one appointment slightly on the PDA and tried to synch.
Back came the timeout message re out-of-date appointments. Now Active sync reads all the folders, shows each with a status of synchronised, then appears to hang, then comes up with: There was no response from your mobile device while checking for out-of-date appointments. The suggested disconnect device, reset and try again is useless. Where on earth do I look now? Thursday, May 4, AM. A search of my entire c drive shows two copies of the version of it, in a temp directory IXP Good luck, Julie.
Thursday, May 4, PM. Thanks for the thought Julie, but assuming that scanpst is the same as the repair utility you can get at from the menus, no problems were found and the problem didn't change. The logs in my message above indicate to me that it's something to do with inability to communicate from the PDA back to the desktop. I think the error message is misleading, as when I remove the calendar as an item to be sync'd, it just changes to out-of-date taks or whatever was next on the list.
I removed skype from my pda, and a genealogy program, which I then reinstalled on the SD card. Something between the two of these, cleared the problem as now I'm sync'd again. Friday, May 5, AM. Friday, May 5, PM. Hi Did you find a solution to your "Critical services" error???? I am trying to install Active Sync 4. I did the same uninstalled Active Sync and redownloaded it but the same error keeps coming up.
What was your solution if any??? Did you format the hard disk of your PC or the Mobile Device? Saturday, May 6, AM. Saturday, May 6, PM. Hi Julie, Read through this thread and related resources but don't seem to be applicable to me.
My problem is perhaps more "simple". Mine is a fresh install of ActiveSync 4. This is my 1st WinMobile device and ActiveSync is drving me nuts! Played with the possible ones, eg. Sunday, May 7, PM. Wednesday, May 10, AM. Tuesday, May 23, AM. Maybe someone can help me. I have read all the threads and have tried all the suggestions.
Uninstalled 3. I deleted registry keys as posted I deleted any. I can get connected but I cannot sync. I am trying to sync Calender, Notes, and Contacts. The green wheel spins and then an error message comes on stating "Syncronization cannot be started because you are not able to log on to the network to access information.
